ATTRACTIONS IN AND AROUND ORLANDO
Not many resort towns have more attractions, restaurants and shopping
than Orlando. Be one of the more than 48 million annual visitors who
come to Orlando each year and enjoy the city’s legendary theme parks,
spectacular museums, blockbuster rides and attractions.
It’s the best place to tie in a family vacation with the BCCA
CANvention. Your spouse and “Gator-Kids” can enjoy Orlando attractions
while you find your own attractions on the trade floor. There’s even a free
shuttle to all Disney properties running daily.
FEEL LIKE A KID AGAIN
Orlando has the world’s most amazing theme parks and attractions for
kids of all ages. At Walt Disney World Resort you’ll find the Magic
Kingdom, Epcot, Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Disney’s Animal
Kingdom. At Universal Orlando Resort, you’ll find Islands of Adventure
and Universal Studios, and nearby SeaWorld Orlando. Just east of Orlando is the Kennedy Space Center
Even if you’ve visited before, there are several new attractions
recently opened to add to your list—Aquatica, an all-new water park from
SeaWorld, “The Simpsons” ride at Universal Orlando Resort, and “Toy
Story Mania” at Disney’s Hollywood Studio.
ORLANDO SHOPPING
Shop 'til you drop at the many shopping districts and malls in the
Orlando area. The largest district is just around the corner from the Caribe
Royale—International Drive (known as I-Drive) with every shop and
restaurant choice you can imagine.
Within a short drive there are two outlet malls (Prime Outlets and
Orlando Premium), central Florida's largest mall, The Florida Mall, and
the Mall at Millenia, just to name a few.
GAMES PEOPLE PLAY
Plan a golf getaway for you and your family. From professional courses, to
putt-putt courses, there are nearly 200 places to play! And you can play a
game of tennis or basketball on the lighted courts at the Caribe Royale.

CANvention 38 Events
TUESDAY, August 26
No official activities planned but you don't want to miss out on some of the best room-to-room trading and the beer station “Watering Holes” to quench your thirst.
WEDNESDAY, August 27
The CANvention officially opens on Wednesday, but the
trading begins earlier. Daytime room-to-room is
encouraged. On both Tuesday and Wednesday nights
“watering holes” will be set up on each floor with free beer.
You’ll get special signs for your door to let people know
you’re open for deal-making.
The hotel is easy to navigate. There are two wings on each floor
and approximately 20 rooms in each wing. Four spacious elevators move
you from floor to floor.
THURSDAY, August 28
The Trade Floor officially opens at 9am and setting up is a breeze from
either the parking lot right outside the convention center or from your
hotel room via the covered walkway. There are no stairs to navigate from
Tower II, and going back and forth from the trade floor to your room
takes just minutes.
The BCCA Board of Directors meeting is scheduled for Thursday
afternoon. All BCCA members are welcome to attend. Time and location
will be in your agenda booklet.
On Thursday night you’ll enjoy the many fine micro beers from
Florida while greeting your BCCA officers and board candidates, and chatting
with representatives from future CANvention sites.
FRIDAY, August 29
The BCCA General Business Meeting begins at 8:30am. The trade floor
will open at 11am following the meeting. Everyone attending the General
Business meeting will receive a special gift..
Display viewing begins at 1pm on Friday in the Antigua Meeting
Room right across from the trade floor entrance. With easy access from
the parking lot to the Convention Center for display setup, this is THE year
to think about entering a display!
Competition details and the sign-up form will be in the Jun/July
magazine. Categories and prizes are the same as last year.
Friday late afternoon and evening activities include many chapter gatherings,
and you don’t want to miss the Jersey Shore Luau Friday night
outside the Convention Center on the Boca Patio.
SATURDAY, August 30
The trade floor opens at 8am for members, and at 9am to the public. At
High Noon, the Rusty Bunch opens their dump to kids and collectors to
pick out as many cans as they can carry for their collections.
The dump is followed by a Mega BCCA raffle. All items are valued
at $50 or more, and raffle tickets will be sold beginning Thursday on the
trade floor, where items will be on display for viewing. The trade floor
closes at 3pm, just in time to get ready for the BCCA Awards Banquet.
The celebration starts at 5pm Saturday with a cocktail hour. A
“Caribe Royale” dinner buffet will be served followed by the awards ceremony.
