world. Nearly 1,000 members share several days of trading,
buying, selling, socializing, sampling and enjoying the

Welcome to the Keystone State and the BCCA’s
40th CANvention where you’ll find outstanding
hotel accommodations, the trade floor and all
meeting rooms in one place. The official title
of the entire complex is the Valley Forge
Convention Plaza.
All of this collecting fun is complimented with
FREE parking.
Members from the Horlacher Chapter, along with
additional help from the Greater Delaware
Valley, and Keystone Chapters will be on hand to
assist you and ensure that you have a very
special experience during your Valley Forge and
Greater Philadelphia visit. And even better, the
CANvention is the Thursday – Saturday just AFTER
Labor Day (September 9 – 11, 2010).

CANvention 40
ROOM TO ROAM
The headquarters hotel is the Radisson
Valley Forge. This is a 14-story tower
with 328 rooms. The tower is located
directly above the main function and
meeting rooms. This tower is also above
the complex’s dining options. A second
hotel tower known as the Scanticon will
be the overflow hotel. It’s a six-story,
all-suites tower with 160 rooms. These
two towers are separated by the Valley
Forge Convention Center. The Scanticon
is located above the trade floor. You do
not have to leave the building to access
any CANvention facility. The BCCA rate
for either hotel facility is $119 per
night plus tax. It’s good for three days
prior and three days following
CANvention.

VALLEY FORGE
The historic sites of Valley Forge, King
of Prussia, and the Greater Philadelphia
area will call you to come early and
leave you wanting to stay longer. For

Almost across the highway from the
CANvention complex you will find the
Valley Forge National Historic Park.
This is where you can explore the
Washington Winter Encampment of 1777 –
1778, a Revolutionary War episode that
tugged at the very heart of our
young nation. The Park has nearly 30

Philadelphia is only 20 minutes away.
Here you can explore Independence Hall,
the Betsy Ross House, the Liberty Bell

Just the other side of
the interstate highways you will find
the King of Prussia Mall. Shop ‘til you
drop at this vast shopping mecca. It
contains eight major department stores
along with 365 specialty shops and a

HEADQUARTERS EATERIES
This complex offers two
full service restaurants—elegant dining
at the Blue Grotto Italian Bistro for
dinner, and casual dining at the
Chumley’s Sports Bar and Fine Dinning

features a lunchtime pasta bar. Café
Soleil also features Starbucks To Go.

MAKE IT A
FAMILY AFFAIR
With all of the history
and education that Valley Forge offers
for family fun, bring the “Half Pints”
to CANvention. Kids 16 and under can
register free, get their own badges and
attend all CANvention functions with
their parents, except the Saturday night
buffet, for which they must register and
pay a reduced rate. So pack up your
totes and bring your family to Greater
Philadelphia.
GETTING TO VALLEY FORGE
All airlines, trains and
roads lead to Valley Forge. The city is
located 20 minutes from Downtown Philly
and the Airport. Valley Forge/King of
Prussia is accessible from all
directions. Most of the major Philly
highways intersect near our CANvention
Headquarters. The airport is
approximately 15 miles from the hotel,
and there is a shuttle service for one
way and round trips.

Scanticon will do everything possible to
keep us all together. To help with
keeping CANvention attendees together,
it is paramount that YOU make your
reservations early. There are three easy
ways to make reservations and guarantee
your first night’s stay:

The CANvention opens on
Thursday, but he trading begins earlier.
Daytime room-to room is encouraged. On
both Tuesday and Wednesday nights
“watering holes” will be strategically
set up on various floors with free beer
for registered attendees.

THURSDAY, September 9,
2010
The Trade Floor opens at
9 am and setting up is a breeze from
either the parking lot right outside the
convention center or from your hotel
rooms via the connecting hallway leading
from the Radisson which takes just a few
minutes. The BCCA Board of Directors
meeting is scheduled for Thursday
afternoon. All BCCA members are welcome
to attend. Time and location will be in
your agenda booklet. On Thursday night
in the Radisson, during the President’s
Welcome Reception and Micro Nite, you’ll
enjoy many fine micro beers from Greater
Philly and beyond, and get to greet your
potential board candidates, and your
BCCA officers.

The BCCA General
Business Meeting begins at 8:30 am The
trade floor will open at 11am following
the meeting. Everyone attending the
General Business meeting will receive a
special gift. Display viewing begins at
1 pm on Friday right on the trade floor.
We have easy access from the parking lot
to the Convention Center for display
setup; this is THE year to think about
entering a display! Competition details
and the sign-up form will be in the
June/July 2010 issue of
Beer Cans & Brewery Collectibles.
Categories and prizes are the same as
past years. Friday late afternoon and
evening activities include many chapter
gatherings, and you don’t want to miss
the Jersey Shore Friday night all held
in the Radisson.

SATURDAY, September 11,
2010
The trade floor opens at
8 am for members, and at 9 am to the
public. At High Noon, the Rusty Bunch
opens their dump to kids and collectors
to pick out as many cans as they can
carry for their collections. The trade
floor closes at 3 pm, just in time to
get ready for the BCCA Awards Banquet
held in the Radisson. The celebration
starts at 5 pm Saturday in the Radisson,
with a cocktail hour. A “Pennsylvania”
dinner buffet will be served followed by
the awards ceremony.
